Nice, France – 12 June 2025 | In a powerful and forward-thinking address at the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), Prof. Ganesh Prakash Channa, President of the World Environment Council (WEC), India, called for a globally coordinated, community-driven approach to establishing Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Speaking under the theme of Ocean Action Panel 8: Promoting and supporting all forms of cooperation, Prof. Channa emphasized the urgent need for regional and subregional collaboration to safeguard marine biodiversity.

Founded by Prof. Ganesh Channa, an academician and environmentalist with over 23 years of experience in education, sustainability, and global policy.

4. World Tree Plantation Mission:

Since its inception, WEC’s World Tree Plantation Mission has contributed to the plantation of millions of trees, enhancing biodiversity and supporting climate action.

5. Collaboration with Academic Bodies:

WEC works closely with institutions like NCERT, SCERT, CIET, Indian Government, Universities, and various skill councils to develop sustainable education and training modules.

6. International Engagement:

WEC has participated in key global events like the UN Ocean Conference (Lisbon, 2022) and UN Water Conference (New York, 2023), contributing to policy and environmental governance.
